Summary of the Accident
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) reported that a fatal traffic collision between two vehicles occurred at approximately 12:38 p.m. on January 28, 2023. Below, we’ve included the collision details stated in the official press release from the LVMPD:
“…a vehicle versus vehicle collision occurred on Cabana Drive south of the East Desert Inn Road intersection. Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated a 2021 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on Cabana Drive in the single southbound travel lane. A 2020 Toyota Highlander was traveling northbound on Cabana Drive in the single northbound travel lane. For unknown reasons, the Corolla crossed left-of-center and entered the northbound travel lane south of the intersection. A collision occurred when the left front of the Corolla struck the left front of the Highlander, resulting in major damage to both vehicles.
All occupants of the Highlander were transported to Sunrise Hospital by ambulance for further medical treatment. The driver of the Corolla sustained mortal injuries and was transported to Sunrise Hospital by ambulance, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Impairment is not believed to be a contributing factor in this collision. The Corolla driver’s death marks the 12th traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2023. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigations Section.”
