According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, there was a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred on March 5, 2025, at around 8:44 a.m. on University Center Drive just north of Twain Avenue. A 2025 Chevrolet Trax was headed east on Twain Avenue coming up on the intersection with University Center Drive with a red light. A pedestrian was walking south on the sidewalk of the University Center Drive approaching the intersection. The driver of the Chevrolet failed to follow the red traffic light and made a wide turn onto University Center Drive, entering the sidewalk where the pedestrian was walking. The front of the Chevrolet hit the pedestrian. Medical personnel arrived on scene and transported the pedestrian to Sunrise Hospital Trauma. However, the injuries from the crash were too significant and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The driver of the Chevrolet was arrested for impairment. This is the 35th traffic-related accident in LVMPD’s jurisdiction for the year 2025.
