According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, a vehicle hit a pedestrian on North Eastern Avenue, just south of Owens Avenue in a crosswalk on January 19, 2025 at 6:52 p.m. A Nissan Maxima was headed north on Eastern Ave, and the driver of the Nissan failed to yield to the right of way to the person crossing. The front of the Nissan struck the pedestrian, causing them to fly into the street. The Nissan driver proceeded to flee the scene of the accident. The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to UMC Trauma Center, where the individual succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead. This makes the 9th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2025. On January 20, 2025, the driver of Nissan was located and was arrested for hit-and-run charges.
