Accident Summary:

The LVMPD states that an auto vs. pedestrian collision occurred on August 9, 2022, at approximately 8:19 a.m.

As stated in the Press Release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department “Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated a black 2004 Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Washington Avenue in the single left-turn only lane. The Honda made an abrupt lane change across two westbound travel lanes and into the single right-turn-only lane. A collision occurred when the front of the Honda struck the rear of a pedestrian pushing a shopping cart westbound in the right-turn-only lane. The pedestrian wrapped onto the Honda hood and lodged in the front windshield. The Honda failed to stop and continued westbound on Washington Avenue with the pedestrian. As the Honda reached the intersection of Rancho Drive and Washington Avenue, it went left of center and struck the raised median. The impact dislodged the pedestrian, causing him to fall to the pavement. The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to UMC Trauma by EMS, where he remains in critical condition.
